An Experience of a lifetime!
When we speak our dreams out loud, we exercise faith, trusting that in those moments, God is truly listening. I wholeheartedly believe that my dream has been heard. It has been my deepest desire to be a judge in a cooking competition and to demonstrate my cooking skills on a main stage. Little did I know that God would take me around the world and give me an experience of a lifetime to make that dream come true. Not only was I a judge, but I was the headliner and the only one on the main stage a place made for me and only me at Kitchen Warriors in Okinawa, Japan. I still can’t believe it—a dream come true and then some.
It was so much more than I expected. The competition was fierce, with servicemen and women all coming to win. It was an absolute pleasure and honor to be asked to be a part of this event, and I was thrilled to be eating someone else’s food for a change. Not only was the hospitality among the best I have ever experienced, but the trust placed in me to give honest feedback was heartwarming. I love what I do, and sharing my passion for cooking brings me immense joy. To have the servicemen and women of Camp Foster open their doors to me was more than I could ever ask for.Â
As for Okinawa, I have never been anywhere where everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and kind. From the officers on base to the residents off base, everyone greeted us with smiles, hellos, and a genuine willingness to help us get around. The kindness and warmth were unmatched.Â
Okinawa is a beautiful tropical island full of exclusive eats and amazing culture that I look forward to visiting again in the future. I feel like my record for meeting not just acquaintances but extended family is still intact. Okinawa, you owe me nothing. Let this not be our last time together.Â
With love,Â
